Our Story

Husband and wife, Craig and Bridie, opened The Bake-Well's doors on the 5th January 2020. Craig is from Teesside and as a trained chef, originally came to Askrigg to work. Bridie has grown up in Askrigg and has always enjoyed working in hospitality, having worked in various establishments throughout the Dales. They had both always wanted to open their own business, so when the opportunity arose, the couple thought why not give it a go!

As a couple we love going out for food, grabbing a coffee after walking the dogs or treating friends to delicious homemade baking. So our aim was to build a place we would like to go ourselves for breakfast/brunch/lunch or just coffee & cake; to bring our vision of hospitality to life in a village that we love.

We never compromise on ingredients or generosity. We endeavour to use quality local ingredients and suppliers as much as we can, like Hammond's Butchers In Bainbridge, Wensleydale Eggs, Carricks Fruit & veg & local family bakers in Swinithwaite for our fresh homemade bread. We have vegetarian, vegan & gluten free options everyday.

All our takeaway packaging, cups & straws are sourced to be mindful to the environment.
